Provider Biography
Dr. Yuksel received her MD from Koc University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey and completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, where she served as the chief fellow physician. After completing her fellowship, Dr. Yuksel joined the faculty in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She greatly enjoys teaching medical students, residents and fellows. In clinical practice, she focuses on all types of endocrine diseases with a special interest in weight management and transgender medicine.
Dr. Yuksel participated in translational and clinical research studies at University of Cambridge in Cambridge, UK, Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California and Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. She received the "Montefiore Einstein Barzel Prize for Excellence in Research" award for her research study "The effect of change in the somatotropic hormone levels on cognitive resilience in aging humans". She is currently working on a translational research project on thyroid cancer.
