Provider Biography
Dr. Saqib Zia is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of
Vascular Surgery, Attending at University Hospital (UH) and also the Program Director
for Vascular Surgery Fellowship Program.
After finishing his medical education at King Edward Medical University, Dr. Zia
completed Basic Surgical Training at Whipps Cross University Hospital in London, UK,
during which he completed the Member of Royal College of Surgeons of England
examinations. He completed his general surgery internship at University of Virginia,
followed by residency at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Zia completed a
vascular and endovascular surgery fellowship at Staten Island University Hospital. Prior to
joining Rutgers NJMS, he developed a very busy practice as an attending in vascular
surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra
Northwell Staten Island University Hospital. Dr. Zia is Board Certified by the
American Board of Surgery in General as well as Vascular Surgery. He is a Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI).
During his tenure at NJMS as the vascular surgery program director, he spearheaded the initial
ACGME accreditation for a new vascular surgery integrated residency program to complement the
well established vascular fellowship.
