RH Provider
Joseph Ippolito, MD
- Orthopaedic Oncologist (Musculoskeletal Oncology)
I completed my undergraduate training at Rutgers in Cell Biology & Neuroscience, followed by medical school and residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. I went on to complete fellowship training in Orthopaedic Oncology at the University of Chicago. I am a New Jersey native, born and raised in West Orange. As a child, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, treated successfully with surgery and chemotherapy. This inspired me to pursue medicine and oncologic care for pediatric and adult patients with bone and soft tissue cancer.
As an orthopaedic oncologist, I strive to maximally restore function and provide optimal pain relief in the setting of extremity bone and soft tissue sarcoma, as well as other benign and malignant bone and soft tissue diseases, including metastatic bone disease and multiple myeloma. Orthopaedic oncology is a multidisciplinary effort that requires a team approach for optimal treatment, often including the expertise of colleagues in pathology, radiology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, and vascular surgery. I work to prioritize the patient’s goals and expectations for care, working collaboratively to achieve this aim whenever possible.
Dr. Ippolito sees patients at Rutgers Cancer Institute, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, and University Hospital.
